English to Latin Downtime
First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who so quickly reported problems with the English to Latin section of the website. It's great to know that this tool is important and being utilized.
Second, it should only be down for a short time. It will be back up and running soon.
Thanks for using the site!

Small Server Glitch Stopped Numen for Morning
So there was a small glitch on the server this morning. It was super easy to fix but I didn't have a chance to fix it for a few hours. It should be good now!

Server Outage
Sorry about the server outage. It was a technical mistake on my part -- don't worry, Numen isn't going way. Thanks for all the compliments -- the number of people emailing me really did let me know that Numen is a useful and necessary tool. Please continue to report problems! It really helps me out!

Server Move
You know me pretty well by now if you know that I move the Latin Lexicon server every few months. Hopefully this new home will last for a couple of years.
If you notice anything isn't working, please feel free to contact me at admin@latinlexicon.org.
I should post more news here. It might not be obvious from here, but I'm constantly making updates to the Latin Lexicon -- I fix something like 10 reported errors per week. I also add enhancements and fix bugs (and sometimes add new bugs). If there are any particular features you'd like to see on the site, again feel free to contact me.

Server Stable
So the server seems stable. That's good news. Thanks to all of you for your feedback over the last few weeks.
I'd like to make small changes to the site and make it more usable? What would you like to see (including big bugs that I've missed)?

Numen is down for a bit ...
Unfortunately the website (and all email functions) are down for the moment. The server crashed! There is no ETA at the moment.
I know this is frustrating for you and it's even more frustrating for me.
I have officially started the search for a new hosting provider and will definitely be switching over to that new hosting provider within a matter of days.
I apologize for the instability of the site, especially at this time in the semester.

Server Slowness -- please provide feedback
Unfortunately, as some of you may have noticed, the server experienced a massive slow-down during the past few weeks that made the lexicon unusable in many instances. I'd like to apologize for that. As soon as I found out about it, I started working with the ISP to correct the issue. They were unable to assist and so I was forced to improvise. I believe I have now corrected the issue, but please feel free to provide feedback. In fact, if you have a moment, please send an email to efesar@unm.edu or add a comment to this post. Please let me know how long you experienced issues and if you have experienced any issues since. Again, I apologize for this technical glitch and I appreciate your patience.

Server Move (again!)
Numen is getting a new server! It will be moving sometime this week or next week, depending on how many glitches I run into in the new server environment. So far, it's looking like it will move tomorrow evening (Saturday) the 20th of July, 2013. But, if that doesn't work, I'll try to migrate it over as soon as possible. With any luck, there will be zero down time.
However, after the server move, you might discover glitches. If you do, please just contact me and let me know as soon as possible and I'll get it all squared away.

Upcoming Server Move
Within the next week, Numen's physical server will be moving to a new location -- hopefully with a connection about 6 times faster than it's been over the last 10 months. Of course, it's not been exactly slow! But I just wanted to get the word out there because the site might be down for a day or two. With any luck, I can minimize that time and also make it happen on a slow day (historically, Saturdays are the slowest days). I apologize for the inconvenience.

Server Hardware Failure
Hi, Numen users. I really apologize, even more profusely than last time. It turns out that the "power failure" was a little bit more severe than I first believed. It turns out that the motherboard in the server failed. Not to worry - I've replaced all the dead machinery with working parts and it appears that most of the features of the site are up and running. I'll be restoring other services as I find out about them -- but if you happen to see something not working, please let me know right away! Thanks!

My apologies! There was a power failure and I didn't know the server was down. :( But it's back up now!

Today Numen got a bunch of upgrades to the latest versions including the database server Postgresql, the web server Apache, the server programming language PHP, and the JavaScript client library jQuery and the Javascript client library jQuery Mobile all got upgraded today. Things should run faster and a act a bit more stable.
If anything seems to be giving you a problem, please let me know in the comments!

The Latin Lexicon Server is down until IT fixes the firewall...
I'm very sorry that the server is down at the moment. The university's IT department is dragging its feet on the firewall rules. We've put in a request for a rush! Hopefully it will come back online today.
